Mojo 2 – The World’s Best DAC and Headphone Amplifier
The Evolution of a Best-Selling Portable DAC
Mojo 2 by Chord Electronics is the world’s most compact, high-performance, and multi-award-winning portable DAC and headphone amplifier, designed and built in the UK. Unlike any other HiFi device, Mojo 2 uses proprietary digital audio technology, refined over more than two decades of research, now paired with a powerful FPGA processor. The result is unrivaled sound quality, a true reference in its category both on-the-go and at home, with the ability to effortlessly drive any headphones. Mojo 2 brings you closer to your music than any other DAC or portable system.
The updated design maintains the signature look of the original model. A fourth control button — a hallmark of Mojo 2’s identity — also functions as a status indicator. It allows navigation through menus, muting, and setting crossfeed levels across four stages. Entirely built in the UK with a CNC-machined aluminum chassis, Mojo 2 remains highly portable thanks to its small size (approx. 8 x 6 x 2 cm) and lightweight build (185g). It houses the Xilinx Artix 7 FPGA, also found in Chord’s Hugo 2, enabling greater connectivity while retaining compactness.
Poly-Compatible for Seamless Streaming
Mojo 2 preserves the design and dimensions of its predecessor but greatly enhances all other aspects, securing its place at the top of the portable DAC class. It can operate as a standalone DAC connected to a smartphone or digital source, or pair with the Poly wireless streaming module to create a fully wireless solution.
The most awarded DAC in the world, now more refined and versatile.
Crowned What Hi-Fi? 2022 Best DAC, Mojo 2 is the most advanced headphone amp/DAC on the market. It delivers music with exceptional detail and clarity, approaching professional studio-grade quality.

A New Benchmark
Mojo 2 was engineered to improve upon its already outstanding predecessor. At its core is the world’s first lossless DSP, an advanced digital tone control that preserves full signal integrity. The new UHD DSP brings unmatched headphone compatibility and greater integration with other audio gear. The redesigned menu system — navigable through the fourth orb-style button — allows direct control over mute, crossfeed, tone shaping, and button lock.
Battery life and management are significantly upgraded, with faster charging, 75% less power loss, and 9% more capacity, delivering up to 8 hours of playback.
Handcrafted in the UK, Mojo 2’s aircraft-grade aluminum enclosure ensures mechanical strength and EMI shielding. Its sonic performance, build quality, and technical precision continue to set global standards in mobile audio.
Exclusive FPGA Technology
For over 20 years, Chord Electronics has pioneered DACs using custom FPGA-based digital conversion, avoiding off-the-shelf chipsets entirely. Mojo 2 embodies this legacy with a proprietary WTA digital filter boasting 40,960 taps and 40 DSP cores, rivaling the architecture of Chord’s Hugo 2 (with 49,152 taps). Taps are a metric of digital filter resolution — the more taps, the more accurate the sound.
Connectivity and Compatibility
Mojo 2 offers multiple connection options:
- USB-C, Micro-USB, optical, coaxial digital inputs
- Dedicated Micro-USB charging port
- Two 3.5mm headphone outputs for shared listening
- Compatible with Apple, Windows, Android, iOS, Linux
Accessories and Portability
Optional leather cases are available for Mojo 2 and for combined setups with the Poly streamer — offering protection and style for portable use.
Intelligent Desktop Mode
Mojo 2 introduces a smart charging mode that protects the battery during extended connection to power sources. Perfect for desktop setups, it allows Mojo 2 to serve as a fixed HiFi DAC without shortening battery life — blending portability with high-end home performance.
“Reference-level transparency, lively and musical sound, open character. Extensive customization options.”
Mojo 2’s signature multicolored glowing buttons offer intuitive control and visual feedback for all device settings. A new menu button introduces access to a wide range of functions, including the all-important fully transparent UHD DSP. Mojo 2 is, in fact, the world’s first portable device to feature a fully lossless Ultra High Definition DSP — an advanced digital processor that also acts as a powerful equalizer, letting you tailor the sound via presets and personal preferences. The DSP adapts the DAC’s output to suit different headphone types. And yes, Mojo 2 offers two headphone outputs.
Mojo 2 + Poly = LOVE
A new USB-C input adds flexibility. Transparency has been noticeably improved thanks to a new noise shaper, lower distortion, and greater neutrality. Mojo 2 can also go wireless when paired with the Poly streamer/server, which adds Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and support for DLNA, AirPlay, Roon, plus a convenient MicroSD card slot.
The Chord Patent: Buttons & Interface
As many know, Chord Electronics’ devices have long featured a unique and unmistakable interface design: the iconic glowing spheres, used for both input and output control. These translucent balls can be pressed (and in some devices, rotated), and they light up in different colors to display essential status information — no need to squint at tiny screens and lines of text.
At a glance, you can check the battery status, input selection, or current sample rate. Mojo 2, for instance, offers two volume ranges, easily recognized by LED color: off for low, white for high. Button brightness is also adjustable — normal or dimmed.
Who Mojo 2 Is For
Chord Electronics’ all-in-one solution suits a variety of users. For the music-loving traveler who relies on their smartphone for streaming, Mojo 2 acts as the perfect link between mobile device (Android or iOS) and headphones. Add the Poly module, and the whole setup becomes wireless — your phone communicates with Poly via Wi-Fi, which is then physically integrated with Mojo 2. No more cables between phone and DAC.
Thanks to its exceptional engineering, Mojo 2 also performs brilliantly at home, typically connected to a computer via cable. Its sound quality is so impressive that it’s often recommended even for fixed systems that don’t already have a standalone DAC.
That’s why Mojo 2 can sit comfortably on your desk, always connected to your Mac or PC and power supply. From there, audio can feed into an external amp — or straight into a great pair of headphones.
In fact, Mojo 2 is often used indoors in fixed setups, acting as a digital link between transport sources (like a Cyrus CD player) and an integrated amp without a built-in DAC.
> “THE KING IS BACK. Since revolutionizing portable DACs in 2016, Mojo has become for Chord what the Walkman was to Sony — the ultimate symbol of quality and portability. Now, Mojo 2 is here: improved, refined, and unmistakably the new King.”
Can’t Find the USB Port? Which Cables Do You Need for Mojo 2?
Mojo 2 includes USB-C, Micro-USB, Toslink optical, and 3.5mm coaxial inputs. For USB connectivity, many great cable options are widely available, so the focus here is on coaxial.
Great combinations include Chord’s C-LITE optical fiber cables, available in various lengths and connector formats (Toslink–Toslink or Toslink–Minijack). For digital coaxial connections with 3.5mm jacks, the Chord Clearway Digitalcable with 3.5mm terminations is a solid match.
> “Familiar in form but superior in every aspect, Mojo 2 is the ‘Godfather Part II’ of DACs.”
